Srinagar, May 05 (KNO): The cabinet, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, on Monday firmed up its response to Raj Bhavan queries regarding amendments to “The Transaction of Business of the Government of Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir Rules”, sources said. Sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the cabinet which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at 12: 30 AM at civil secretariat here, deliberated on the queries raised by Raj Bhavan over the recommendations made by it vis- a-vis Business Rules. “The cabinet reviewed the queries and clarifications sought by Raj Bhavan and accordingly finalized its response," a minister, speaking on condition of anonymity, told KNO. In March this year, Omar Abdullah-led cabinet had proposed amendments in the business Rules and sent it to Raj Bhavan for approval. The proposal was returned by Raj Bhavan, with queries and clarifications. The LG’s secretariat found that some of the cabinet recommendations were contrary to the Reorganisation Act-2019, which explicitly states that LG shall act in his discretion in matters of All India Services, Anti- Corruption Bureau and all other subjects beyond the jurisdiction of J&K Legislative Assembly. Meanwhile, NC spokesman and MLA Tanvir Sadiq said the cabinet has finalised its response and it will be sent to Raj Bhavan today. “Some queries were raised by Raj Bhavan. Today, the cabinet met under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and prepared its response,” he said. As per section 55 of J&K Reorganisation Act, the LG shall make business rules on the advice of the council of ministers for the allocation of business to the ministers; and for the more convenient transaction of business with the ministers including the procedure to be adopted in case of a difference of opinion between the Lieutenant Governor and the council of ministers or a minister—(KNO)
